Rails Girls, the annual worldwide coding event for women, is taking place in Luxembourg again for its 6th edition on October 19th at Forum Geesseknäppchen. The free two-day event immerses girls and women of all ages in the world of Ruby on Rails, an open source software for building web applications.
Organized locally by Women in Digital Empowerment (WIDE), which aims to build a more diverse workforce in Luxembourg by creating opportunities for women to join the digital economy, and supported by Digital Luxembourg, Rails Girls Luxembourg will bring together around 100-150 participants supported by volunteer coaches who will lead them through workshops and hands-on app development. Participants don’t need to have any previous programming experience - the only requirements are a laptop and some curiosity.
Rails Girls Luxembourg is still looking for several additional coaches for this year’s edition. Anyone with some programming experience can apply to be a coach, and knowledge of Ruby on Rails is not required - coaches will be trained before the event. Coaching can be done in any locally-spoken language, including English, French, Luxembourgish or German, as participants are divided up into small groups by language. Why not share your passion for technology by taking part and helping a new generation of young women discover the world of coding?
